These Grown Adults Stress Me Out Every Single Shift

Hey… it’s Anna.

And today?

Today irritated my soul.

Not even my joints first.

My SOUL

Mondays and Wednesdays are my “work alone” days

Which already tells you how the day is about to go.

Because when I work alone?

Everything becomes:

  • my problem
  • my responsibility
  • my eye twitch

And honestly?

Some of these people test me spiritually before sunrise.

First issue of the morning…

THE BURNERS.

WHY.

Why are grown adults turning on burners and ovens, cooking food, then just… walking away???

No seriously.

Explain it to me slowly.

Because this morning I walked into the kitchen at 3am and immediately thought:

  • “Oh nice… they turned the heat on.”

Nope.

It was burners.

AND ovens.

Left on.

For who knows how long.

And this happens often

Sometimes they even leave pots cooking and forget them.

Forget them.

As in:

  • food unattended
  • heat on
  • vibes only apparently

And listen…

As somebody from the Caribbean?

This kind of thing stresses me out BAD.

Because Caribbean parents do NOT play that.

Especially Caribbean moms.

I genuinely wonder how some people survive adulthood

Because where I’m from?

You would never hear the end of it.

My mother would’ve summoned me from another dimension if I left a stove on.

There would be:

  • yelling
  • disappointment
  • a lecture
  • probably prayer afterward

Because what do you mean you left the burner on???

Sometimes I think fear built character for us

Not trauma.

Just healthy respect

Because some of the things I observe here honestly confuse me daily.

The “I don’t care” attitude here is unreal sometimes.

And honestly?

I think it contributes to my high blood pressure.

Because why am I stressed at 3am over people trying to accidentally burn down a building with pasta?

If there were open flames here…

This place would’ve been ashes since January 2026.

I’m convinced.

Next frustration: mopping the floor

Now listen carefully.

If I am CLEARLY mopping the floor…

Why are you walking directly through it???

And then apologizing afterward?

That apology always annoys me.

Because the apology changes nothing

This morning’s strawberry incident

So after I cleaned the kitchen mess and mopped everything…

This girl walks through with strawberries.

Immediately I already knew nonsense was approaching.

Then BOOM.

A strawberry falls.

And of course I pick it up because if stepped on that thing would’ve created a whole sticky mess.

And this girl says:

  • “No leave it, I was gonna pick it up.”

Ma’am.

Respectfully.

If you were going to pick it up…

WHY DIDN’T YOU???

Because by the time you announced your future plans I had already picked it up

I think cleaning jobs make you notice humanity differently

You start realizing:

  • people are messy
  • people are careless
  • people assume someone else will handle things

And that “someone else” is usually me with a mop and irritated knees.

Then came Trash Can Gate

Now THIS annoyed me deeply.

So we have small trash cans in the lounge/study areas for PAPER.

Simple concept.

Apparently too simple.

Because somebody’s trash can in their room got dirty.

And instead of:

  • emptying it
  • washing it
  • acting like an adult

…this person decided to take the CLEAN trash can from the lounge.

And replace it with:

  • not one
  • not two
  • but THREE dirty nasty trash cans

THREE.

Now mind you…

These people apparently refuse to use trash bags in their rooms.

Which honestly should be investigated.

Because WHY.

Trash bags are not luxury items

So now I’m staring at these dirty bins

And I already know what they expected.

They expected:

  • ME

to empty them and wash them.

Absolutely not.

OH HELL NAH.

I threw that whole situation straight in the trash.

Because some people really confuse “cleaning staff” with:

  • “personal servant.”

And no ma’am.

Not today.

Final annoyance: the beach sand

Now yes…

We are near the beach.

Cute.

Beautiful.

Lovely.

BUT WHY DOES THE SAND NEED TO COME HOME???

Why is there sand:

  • on the stairs
  • in the hallways
  • on the corridors
  • EVERYWHERE

Leave the sand at the beach

Why was the sand lonely?

Did it need a building tour?

Because I genuinely need answers.

By the end of the shift I was overstimulated

Not physically even.

Mentally.

Because when you’re:

  • cleaning constantly
  • working alone
  • watching people create chaos in real time

…it gets exhausting.

Especially when your body already hurts before the nonsense even starts.

But honestly? Humor keeps me sane

Because if I didn’t laugh at some of this stuff…

I would probably cry into a mop bucket.

And nobody wants that.

Especially not at 5am.

Working this kind of job teaches you a lot

Mainly:

  • people are wild
  • common sense is not common and is not a flower that grows in everyone’s garden
  • and some adults genuinely move through life like NPCs

No thoughts.

Just vibes.

And burned burners apparently.

From somebody tired of cleaning after grown people

Today was frustrating.

Not the hardest physically.

But mentally irritating.

And honestly sometimes that’s worse.

Because physical pain eventually settles down.

But annoyance?

Annoyance lingers

Anyway…

That was my day.

I survived.

Barely.

Now I’m going to sit quietly somewhere and try not to think about rogue strawberries and mysterious beach sand migration patterns.

Until next time lovelies 💋
