Today My Body Chose Peace… And Honestly? I Needed That

Hey… it’s Anna.

And guess what?

TODAY was a good body day.

I know.

I’m shocked too.

Because lately my body has been acting like it has personal issues with me specifically.

But today?

Today we were friends again.

It started at 3am like usual

The alarm went off at 3am.

And normally the first thing I feel is:

  • stiffness
  • aches
  • regret
  • confusion about why mornings exist

But today?

Nothing major.

No dramatic knee complaints.

No shoulder screaming.

No full-body “absolutely not.”

I got up and my body actually cooperated.

Which honestly felt suspicious.

Work was manageable for once

I was at work by 4am.

And thankfully today was light.

Mainly because:

  • I wasn’t working alone

And secondly because I was on lounge duty.

Which basically means:

  • cleaning the three lounge areas
  • collecting trash from the corridors
  • cleaning the bathrooms by the pool

Compared to hauling giant trash bags down flights of stairs?

That’s luxury.

Summer break is saving my joints a little

School is out for the summer.

Thank Heavens.

So there are way fewer students around.

Mostly interns and people staying for work programs.

Which means:

  • less mess
  • less chaos
  • less “who exploded pasta on the stove today?” moments

And honestly?

My body appreciates the quieter energy.

SHHH..Also… between me and you…

You already know weekends are different for me.

I absolutely take little hours for myself on weekends.

Because if I cleaned nonstop every second of every shift?

My body would file a formal complaint.

So after work today?

My roomy and I decided to go walkabout.

First stop: sea lions at Pier 39

And listen…

Watching sea lions is weirdly therapeutic.

They’re just:

  • loud
  • dramatic
  • laying around
  • minding their business

Honestly?

I relate to them deeply.

We stood there for a while just watching them bark at each other and flop around like retired uncles at a barbecue.

10/10 experience.

Then we did a Bay cruise

Around 11am we did a Bay Area cruise.

And I actually loved it.

It took us:

  • under the Golden Gate Bridge
  • And past Alcatraz Island

And for a minute?

Life felt calm.

Like my brain stopped fighting me for a few hours.

The weather was nice.

The water looked beautiful.

And I just sat there thinking:

  • “Okay… maybe life isn’t completely terrible.”

Then reality attacked my wallet

After the cruise we planned to get seafood.

Specifically?

I had my heart set on a nice Dungeness crab.

I was READY.

Mentally seasoning it already.

Then I saw the price.

And immediately became humble.

Absolutely not.

The crab stayed right there living its best expensive life.

So instead…

I got spaghetti bolognese with garlic bread.

And honestly?

No regrets.

I also had a strawberry margarita.

Wink wink 😅

And listen…

Sometimes a little drink and carbs are therapy too.

Then things got sweet

We wandered around some more and popped into a chocolate shop.

Dangerous behavior honestly.

I ended up getting:

  • a caramel candied apple
  • and some salted caramel treats

And at that point?

I was feeling joy again.

Tiny joy maybe.

But still joy.

Then my back reminded me who’s boss

Because eventually my body said:

  • “Okay Anna… enough excitement.”

And honestly?

Fair.

My back started tightening up.

My knees started whispering threats.

My shoulder had opinions.

So we called it a day and headed home.

But you know what?

Today felt good.

Not perfect.

Not pain-free.

But lighter.

Like my dark cloud finally stepped aside for a few hours.

And I didn’t realize how badly I needed that until today happened.

I felt like myself again

That’s the best way I can explain it.

I felt:

  • relaxed
  • unbothered
  • present

Not stuck in my head.

Not drowning in worry.

Just… existing.

And enjoying it.

Of course my joints still had commentary

Because let’s not get carried away.

My knees are aching now.

My shoulder is definitely talking back.

But emotionally?

I feel happy.

And honestly that matters too.

I think moments like this are important

Because when you deal with:

  • pain
  • stress
  • anxiety
  • exhaustion

You start forgetting that good days still exist.

And then one random Saturday sneaks in and reminds you:

  • “Hey… life can still feel nice sometimes.”

From someone holding onto good days

Today reminded me that happiness doesn’t always have to be huge.

Sometimes happiness is:

  • manageable pain
  • a boat ride
  • sea lions being chaotic
  • garlic bread
  • overpriced crab you absolutely cannot afford 😅

Tiny things.

But tiny things still count.

May tomorrow be just as kind.

One day at a time, my lovelies..

I hope you’re all having the bestest weekend.

Kisses 💋
