Hey… it’s Anna.
Let’s talk about something people conveniently skip over.
The mental side of all this.
Because yeah—everybody talks about the pain.
The joints.
The stiffness.
The “have you tried stretching?” people.
Cool.
But nobody really talks about what this does to your mind.
It’s not just physical
People think it’s just:
“Oh, your knees hurt?”
“Your hands go numb?”
Sure.
But it’s also:
- frustration
- irritability
- exhaustion that sleep doesn’t fix
It’s waking up already annoyed…
and you don’t even know why at first.
Then you remember:
“Oh right… everything hurts.”
The mood swings nobody asked for
Let me be honest.
Living with pain makes you… a little grumpy.
Not on purpose.
It just happens.
Some days I catch it early:
“Okay Anna, relax… don’t snap at people.”
Other days?
Yeah… it gets away from me.
And I’m sitting there like:
“Why am I irritated at everything and everyone?”
Then my body answers:
“Because we’re in pain. Duh.”
Feeling invisible
Here’s another part.
When you’re dealing with this daily…
People don’t see it.
You look “fine.”
So they assume:
- you’re fine
Meanwhile you’re:
- pushing through
- adjusting constantly
- trying not to lose your patience
Especially at work.
When people walk past you, through you, around you…
Like you’re not even there.
That does something to you.
The overthinking
Your mind starts going places like:
- “How long can I keep doing this?”
- “What if it gets worse?”
- “Am I stuck like this?”
And those thoughts?
They don’t come once.
They come often.
Usually when you’re already tired.
The quiet moments hit the hardest
It’s not always during the busy parts.
Sometimes it’s when everything is quiet.
You finally sit down.
And it all just… hits.
The pain.
The exhaustion.
The frustration.
And you’re like:
“Yeah… this is a lot.”
But here’s the thing
Even with all that…
You still get up.
You still go to work.
You still do what needs to be done.
Not because it’s easy.
Because it has to be done.
Why I’m even talking about this
Because if you’re feeling this too…
You’re not crazy.
You’re not “too sensitive.”
You’re not “overreacting.”
You’re dealing with something real.
And it affects more than just your body.
From someone in it
Some days are heavier than others.
Mentally. Emotionally. Physically.
And on those days?
Getting through it is enough.
You don’t have to be positive.
You don’t have to be strong all the time.
You just have to make it through the day.
And if nobody told you…
That counts.
It really does.
